The Topside Power System (TPS) is a surface-based control and power distribution unit that’s fully backward-compatible with both new and existing Oceanbotics ROVs, providing a reliable alternative to traditional battery power.

The Oceanbotics® Topside Power System (TPS) delivers continuous, high-voltage surface power to the SRV-8 or SRV-8X ROVs via the tether, eliminating the need for onboard batteries. This system enables unlimited operational time, making it ideal for long-duration missions and training days.

How it Works
Certain missions require ROV’s to operate continuously without any downtime for battery swaps. The Oceanbotics® Topside Power System (TPS) solves this by delivering continuous power from the surface through the tether, enabling unlimited underwater operation without battery swaps. This system is ideal for extended missions such as pipeline inspections, offshore oil and gas operations, environmental monitoring in contaminated waters, and long-term underwater surveillance.

Components
Topside Power Supply Console
The Topside Power Console is the surface unit that delivers high-voltage power to the ROV through the tether. Designed for safety, reliability, and ease of use, it converts standard AC input (100–240V) into regulated 400V DC for efficient power transmission over long distances.
Housed in a rugged, portable enclosure, the console features intuitive indicators, built-in protection systems, and seamless integration with the rest of the Topside Power System.
Power Supply Bottles (x2)
On the ROV, the Battery Bottles are replaced with the Power Supply Bottles, making them a drop-in replacement for the original batteries. One bottle contains the power supply, while the other is a dummy bottle that plays a crucial role in maintaining proper balance, ensuring it remains as stable as it would be with batteries installed.
You can switch back and forth between battery and surface power depending on your mission needs.
100-Meter Topside Power System Tether
Purpose-built for the Topside Power System, this high-power tether delivers both reliable power and robust communication between the ROV and surface.
This tether is engineered to handle long-duration, high-demand missions with safe and stable performance. Available in 100m and 200m lengths.
